Dr. Verda Salman

Dr. Verda Salman is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Pakistan. A development economist by training, her research focuses on topics related to human behavior and economic development. She has worked on discrimination faced by minorities, intimate partner violence, maternal and child health, disability, and environmental behaviors. She completed her PhD at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, and has been associated with teaching and research for more than a decade. She has been awarded Innovative Methods and Metrics for Agriculture and Nutrition Actions (IMMANA), managed by Tufts University, USA. Under this fellowship, she is conducting research on food security, undernutrition, and climate change across agro-ecological zones in Pakistan. She has also been awarded the ‘Supporting Women in Science’ fellowship by the Institute for Global Health and Development at Aga Khan University, where she is working on climate change and health outcomes. She is also a recipient of a competitive research grant under Research for Social Transformation and Advancement (RASTA), where she worked on technology adoption in Islamabad police and is currently pursuing another RASTA project on evaluation of the Kachhi Canal project in Balochistan.
